Heritage Research

Inheritance is the sum of all assets, rights, and debts that a person leaves behind after his or her death. The inheritance passes to the legal heirs and/or persons specified in the will.

Common in inheritances;

• Uncertainties in inheritance
• The emergence of new heirs
• Inability to reach heirs
• Inability to divide an inheritance
• Problems and conflicts of interest between the heirs

 constitute the main inheritance problems that remain unresolved.

Inheritance research is a set of studies carried out to determine the scope of the inheritance left behind after the death of a person and who the heirs are. Since the division of the inheritance is the division of the mother and father, this process has spiritual as well as material aspects. As the Cantemir Inheritance Research team, we also try to accompany the psychological processes within the family in the process of resolving your inheritance.

Heritage research;

• The property subject to inheritance and/or the heirs are located in another country
• Inherited assets are not known
• The breakdown of kinship relations
• Inheritance to relatives after the death of the inheritor without children
• Hidden or intimate situations within the family

Such research is carried out by utilizing various sources such as family history, civil registers, land registers, and probate certificates. Inheritance research requires expertise in different fields such as real estate, law, and history. Progressing in a single discipline in this regard may delay the solution of problems and lead to loss of rights.

What do we do?

As Cantemir Inheritance Investigations Corp, we have been working on Ottoman title deeds & inheritance investigations since 2004. We have developed a special software in this field. We are the first inheritance investigations company in Turkey that manages all processes in inheritance investigations under one roof by bringing together experts from different disciplines. With our comprehensive approach to inheritance, we serve people who have ancient title deeds and identification registry records, individuals who want to find their lost property or document their ownership, foundations and associations that cannot exercise their ownership rights, and public institutions such as municipalities that face difficulties in urban transformation projects due to unknown heirs.

How do we work?

By obtaining your family documents and a power-of-attorney from you;

Every family and every inheritance is unique, so we communicate closely with you to best understand your needs and expectations.

  • Thanks to our pioneering software, which juxtaposes Ottoman maps with contemporary maps, we can precisely determine the location of your lost or forgotten property.
  • We combine the past and present to protect your inheritance rights. We investigate the history and status of these properties, collect all relevant official documents, and write the history of the parcel.
  • We detect the location and size of your antiquities whose buildings have been demolished; and we prepare reports suitable for the processes of the Boğaziçi Board of Zoning and Monuments.

We prioritize protecting your rights and privacy, as well as those of your family.

  • By examining your family genealogies, we determine who the heirs are and what their inheritance rights are.
  • By creating a family tree, we prove your family ties with official documents.
  • By issuing guardianships, we ensure that the inheritance is delivered to its rightful owners.
  • We conduct investigations to find your missing or unknown family members. With our meticulous and devoted work, we ensure that inheritance issues are resolved quickly and accurately.

  • We carry out our work with great care, inform you at every step, and value your feedback.
  • We conduct detailed research in the Ottoman archives, land registry records, cadastre, identification registry records, and other official sources; and we collect all kinds of information about the history of the inheritance.
  • We uncover information that is vital to determining the value of the inheritance and the rights of the beneficiaries.
  • We prepare reports for courts and law offices.

With our team of experts in the field, we provide you with information and consultancy services on all matters related to the Inheritance Law and guide you through this complex and challenging process.

  • We collect official documents and take necessary action for missing documents.
  • We manage the process of dividing the inheritance in accordance with the law.
  • We provide legal representation in cases by carrying out transactions on your behalf. This saves you time and money and ensures that your legal rights are protected.

    FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

    Cantemir Inheritance Investigations Corp. offers services for investigating family trees in Turkey to solve inheritance problems and manage these processes. It investigates the properties that families do not know about or cannot access. It prepares reports on the past ownership processes and the legal status of these properties. It enables creation of family trees, identification of official family members, and official inclusion of people who are family members but are not registered in the records to the line of succession.

    Inheritance investigation requires working together in many different areas:

    • Lawyers
    • Land Registry Archive
    • Cadastral Archive
    • Identification Records Archive
    • Real Estate Valuation
    • The need for financing for the management of these processes

    Together with our solution partners, we are the first company in Turkey to provide services in such different disciplines. Our expert staff carry out investigative processes. These staff members know how the archives in Turkey are organized, what to look for, and where. In addition, since the issue of inheritance means sharing the past in the family, processes such as the possibility of conflict within the family need to be managed carefully and discretely. As Cantemir Inheritance Investigations Corp, we reliably meet all your needs under one roof.

    Investigation fees for creating a family tree and establishing contact with people related to a property, title deed, and cadastre vary depending on factors such as the number of people, the number of properties, and the region to be researched. Since we are an Istanbul-based company, Istanbul-based investigative processes are carried out faster. In particular, Ottoman land registry and identification documentation investigations are priced to include translation services of Ottoman-Turkish documents. If we find the property and call you, we do not charge a fee. We make percentage agreements based on the legal status of the inheritance and the value to be created. In proportionate agreements, we determine the percentage accordingly if you will cover the costs. At Cantemir Inheritance Investigations Corp, we cover the expenses and solve your inheritance problems with a percentage calculation at the end of the task.

    We request retainer payment for families requesting an investigation report. If we find the property and call you, we do not charge any fee.

    You can reach us by e-mail or phone. If you are in Istanbul, we would be pleased to welcome you in our office. Also, we can make out-of-town or international calls online.

    We start with a person or a request letter explaining the details of your family's inheritance process. We want documents, information, and hearings from you regarding family properties, if any. Again, we ask for real estate information if you have it; otherwise, we start searching for all kinds of information and documents related to the inheritance sought, such as the address, the region, and the street name.

    Ottoman period identification certificates, proof of residence addresses, title deeds, property tax receipts; documents related to title deeds from the Republic of Turkey period; all kinds of documents regarding ownership and family inheritance, such as a certified copy of the identity card obtained from the Civil Registry Office or e-devlet, going back three generations. Additionally, a power of attorney is needed authorizing us for the investigation on your behalf within the land registry and identification registry archives.

    We solve all business processes with the power of attorney you provide. We can cover business process expenses according to our contract. We keep you informed with regular reports about your business process.

    It will allow you to find your family's properties that you cannot find on your own, to find missing persons who are shareholders in your property, or to clear your doubts about your family's past properties.

    The issue of inheritance involves a lot of confidential information, even within the family. That's why we established a business organization that protects the privacy of every family member. Afterwards, we destroy the copies of the documents you give us.

    Of course, we would be happy to welcome you at our office.

    We conduct research on Turkish, Anatolian Greek, Armenian, and Jewish families who owned property in Turkey during the Ottoman or Republican period through open sources—especially social media. Thanks to our solution partners in Athens, Paris, Frankfurt, London, New York, Los Angeles, and Buenos Aires, we also reach people from a wide data pool.

    Cantemir Inheritance Research can help you trace the traces of your past to find your lost or forgotten inheritance and ensure that these rights reach you.
